Please read the entire thing and if you have any questions, please come see me tomorrow! :)
Auditions will be in the orchestra room on March 15th starting at 2:30. There will be a sign up sheet outside of the chorus room on the bulletin board on Friday to sign up for a slot.
You have TWO audition choices for the musical. You can audition with material we give you (monologue and a short clip from a song) OR you can audition with your own character & song that matches the story of our show.
Please print out this audition form and bring it to your audition. FORM IS HERE
Audition Option 1: Choose ONE monologue from this list & sing a clip from the song below.
My Super Wicked Sweet 16
OMG, Gabby can you let someone else speak for like one freakin’ second!? Show some respect. As I was trying to say: I have the sickest idea for our third annual sweet 16 bash! Ready? (pause.) Wicked! (pause).
Don’t be ignorant Gabby, Wicked is so not a book by whomever, it’s a show, BY Broadway.
Anyway, Wicked stars two girls who are like sisters, exvept one is beautiful and pink like me and the other green with envy like you. (pause.)
Still there!? Hello? Who hangs up on their twin? That is like so Rent. And “I am NOT that Girl.”
P.E= Please Excuse
I spent the summer pondering my goals for my senior year. On the top of my list, get out of gym. And the first day of school, I put my aim into action!
Getting out of gym was going to be more challenging than anticipated.
(sarcastic) What with PE being some sort of federal law now, and this years dodgeball championship on the line, the coach’s jockstrap was extra twisted.
I needed a game plan that did not include an actual game.
Especially, “Les dodging of ze ballz”.- So I skipped gym for a week.
When the nurse asked why I was out I said, oops…my bad. I thought PE stood for ‘please excuse’. It was worth a shot.
Best Supporting Actor
My favorite memory of senior year was being cast as the lead in the senior musical Fiddler on the Roof…That’s right, you are looking at…The Roof! Which OK literally a supporting role, and no I was not cast as the roof because of my recent diagnosis with shingles…I was born beaming! Thus I was born to play a beam. (pause.)
Therefore, I’d like to say, (take a deep breathe) ‘There are no small parts; only small set budgets. Play well your part and break a beam.’ Now remember, we’ll be going out there scrap-wood but we’ll be coming back a roof!
Song: Link to song click here
You will sing starting at 2:34 Lyrics, "We are different..." ending at 3.00 "this is our story"
Audition Option 2:
1) Choose a character that can be incorporated into our story we talked about today & fill out this form
Create a character that might live in the world of our camp that is going out of business & fill out the audition form (attached here). (People from a camp rock, computer camp, theatre camp...) Be creative!
2) Pick a song that represents your character and sing a short clip of the song using any version you want! (with or without vocals)
We want you to come in with BOLD choices! Remember, make it make sense with our story & the more outlandish the character/song, THE BETTER! There are no wrong choices; we just want you to have fun with it! Please do not worry about the notes and singing as much as the character behind the song. We can always work on vocals at a later time during rehearsals.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once we hear your choice at auditions, we will put together a storyline that will include some of your characters/songs you came up with! Mr. Rocco writes a professional script, and then we start making magic!!
For example, two years ago, our musical was called, Capsized Cabaret where we were stuck on a cruise ship. Someone came to auditions as the character Rose from the Titanic and sang a piece of the song, My Heart Will Go On from the movie. This was a clever choice, it was hilarious & we used it in the show.
So...What do I need to do for auditions? You have TWO choices:
1) Create a character that might live in the world of our camp cabaret & fill out the audition form (attached here). Be creative!
2) Choose a song that would go with your character & sing a part of the song for the audition. (It doesn't have to be long)
OR
1) Choose a monologue from above and sing the clip we chose for you.
4) HAVE FUN! <3
